A fun night of collaborative storytelling and creative self-expression lies ahead! Unfortunately, there is a little required reading (boo!). The steps below are my attempt to make the learning curve of D&D as painless as possible for all.Of course, as always, if at any point in your prep you feel directionless or confused or have questions about anything at all, please feel free to text, call, or email and I will be happy to help.

Step 0: What the Hell Am I Getting Myself Into?

Step 1: Read this Pitch

Step 2: Gain access the Players' Handbook & Digital Character Sheets for FREE, then Make your Character

The textbook that comes with the game can be accessed for free (me sharing my digital copy with you) via dndbeyond. Click the arrow to view a step-by-step guide for how to set up an account, join our campaign, and make your character.

Step 3: Let Me Know Your Availability

Click the arrow to fill out a doodle poll with your August Availability

Make an Account

Click the link or button to visit dndbeyond. In the top right-hand corner of the webpage, click the red Sign Up button and follow the prompts to create your account.

(Note: This step is vital to gain access to all the rulebooks and character customization options without needing to buy any of the source books yourself.)

Skim the Players Handbook

Now that you have access to shared content, navigate to the players handbook by clicking here. Note, if you are prompted to purchase anything at any point, stop what you're doing and text me/Sarah for help.Please read the introduction and chapters 1 and 2 at a minimum, and then skim the rest of the information for the things you're interested in or that will apply to you. You don't need to know how every class works if you already know which one you want to play, nor do you need to study up on spells if you're playing a class that doesn't have access to them, etc.

Create Your Character
